Since last year, I’ve come to think that my present work style doesn’t last for next ten years. My physical power hasn’t been the same as power during my twenties and My interest hasn’t spread all over. On the other hand, I changed a way of thinking about poetry and I came to be able to love poetry. Within a time limit, I devote all my energies to live with poetry. I have no doubts, no hesitation about it. My life comes to an end, so I can live my own life completely. The wilderness of Scotland has been telling me it many times.

 

昨年あたりからか、この勢いで仕事ができるのは10年もないだろう、と思うようになった。体力は当然20代の頃と同様ではないし、興味関心も広がらなくなってきた。そのいっぽうで、詩に対する考え方が、書き始めた頃とはまるで変わり、より愛せるようになった。限られた時間で、限られた力を、詩に、詩とともに生きていくことに注ぐ。そのことに、もう迷いがない。やがて終わる人生だから、安心して生ききることができる。スコットランドの大地は、そのことを、ずっとぼくに教えてくれている。
