Madonna with Child by Megumi Yamaguchi took my breath away at awai art center in Matsumoto last month and I bought it to display at my studio. It is earthenware, so that it is cold to the touch. It makes us feel the warmth and lovingness of Madonna. So curious, but excellent work.

 

先月、松本のawai art centerで開催されていた山口めぐみさんの個展で、その佇まいに息を呑んだ、聖母子像。まだ誰の元にも行かないようだったから、してきなしごとのアトリエで貰い受けた。陶器だから、触れるとひんやりと冷たい。そのことが、かえって、母子の温もりをより伝えてくれる、とても不思議な作品。
